You've Fallen and You Can't Get Up?
Did you know Google Assistant and Apple's Siri can call 911 if you ask them to?
If your phone or smart speakers are within range they will hear your shouts for help and contact emergency services for you.
This is not an extra service or an add-on feature. It only requires a cellular or Internet connection.
Set your phone assistant to listen on lock screen:
Enable "Hey Google" (or "OK Google") detection:
Open the Google app on your Android device.
Tap your Profile picture > Settings > Voice > Hey Google.
Turn on Hey Google.
If prompted, follow the setup to train your voice.
Allow listening on the lock screen:
In the Google Home app, go to Settings > Google Assistant > Voice Match.
Ensure Hey Google is enabled and Use Voice Match on lock screen is turned on.
Enable listening from any screen:
In the Google app, go to Settings > Voice > OK Google Detection.
Turn on From any screen (this allows Assistant to respond even when your screen is off).
For Apple phones
Enable "Hey Siri" on iPhone or iPad:
Open the Settings app.
Tap Siri & Search (or Apple Intelligence & Siri on newer devices).
Toggle on Listen for "Hey Siri".
Tap Continue and follow the prompts to train Siri to recognize your voice by repeating phrases like "Hey Siri, send a message."
Enable "Always Listen for Hey Siri" (for use when device is covered or face down):
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Siri.
Turn on Always Listen for "Hey Siri".
This allows Siri to respond even if your iPhone is in a pocket or face down, though it may increase battery usage.
Just say: "Hey, Google. Call 911!" or "Hey, Siri. Call 911!"
